Woman held over death of 4-year-old daughter
The Yomiuri Shimbun KYOTO--A 43-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of killing her 4-year-old daughter by suffocating her at their apartment in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, police said. According to the Shichijo Police Station, the woman's 39-year-old husband, a clinical technologist, found the girl dead in her bed at about 7 p.m. Sunday after he returned home and contacted the police. The girl's death was confirmed by police officers at the scene. The woman, who was found by the girl's bed and whose name is being withheld by The Yomiuri Shimbun as she has been seeing a psychiatrist for the past year, told police she held her hand over the girl's mouth that afternoon because the girl would not calm down. The girl was in her pajamas and did not have apparent wounds, according to the police. (Dec. 25, 2007) |
