Haruo Nishigami, 66, from Soni, Nara Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of murder for strangling his 35-year-old son Kiyohiko. Nishigami has admitted to the allegations.

"My son went violent and was out of control," Nishigami was quoted as telling investigators.

A relative of Nishigami reported to police that someone had collapsed at Nishigami's home at around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Police found Kiyohiko, lying dead on a futon.

Nishigami allegedly used a rope to strangle his son at around 6 p.m. on Sunday, police said.
