Government worker busted for demanding schoolgirl's nude photos

KURASHIKI, Okayama -- A Yugawara Municipal Government worker who possessed indecent photos of a 16-year-old Kurashiki schoolgirl he met through an online chat service has been arrested, police said.

Akihiro Maeda, 34, the worker from Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, was arrested for breaking the law banning child pornography.

There are no signs that Maeda had the nude photos anywhere else other than his home computer.

Police said on Aug. 15 last year Maeda asked the schoolgirl to use her mobile phone to take obscene photos and send them to his computer.

Maeda was employed by the Yugawara government on Feb. 1 and sacked last week following his arrest. Yugawara Mayor Yukihiro Tomita was furious.

"We've caused citizens to worry and I apologize deeply for this," the mayor said.
