New bill holds ISPs and webmasters responsible for child prostitution on dating sites
The Mainichi Shimbun The Cabinet approved a bill to revise the law regulating dating websites at a meeting on Friday morning, officials said. The bill would require Internet service providers and server owners to register with prefectural public safety commissions, and delete messages that could induce children into crimes. A clause on penalties for violators has been incorporated into the bill. Officials hope that the measures will prevent child prostitution through matchmaking websites. The government will submit the bill to the Diet, with the aim having it passed into law by the end of the ongoing session. (Mainichi Japan) February 29, 2008 |
