TOKYO — Police on Thursday said they have arrested a 14-year-old girl and three friends for blackmailing a classmate at school in January. Police said the girl allegedly threatened a classmate with a lighter at school unless he paid her 3,000 yen.

According to police, the boy started exchanging emails with her, not knowing they were classmates after he found her email address in a CC email message from a mutual friend. When the girl sent him pictures of other girls, the boy sent her photos of himself naked.

The girl, who is a member of a gang, then enlisted the help of three girlfriends and they started blackmailing the boy, saying they would circulate the photos unless he paid up.
