The first-year student was found hanged with the scarf of her school uniform in a toilet of Tenno Minami Middle School in Katagami, Akita Prefecture, in the evening, in an apparent suicide. The Yomiuri Shimbun AKITA--A female first-year middle school student was found hanged in a toilet of Tenno Minami Middle School in Katagami, Akita Prefecture, on Friday, in an apparent suicide, police said. A suicide note was found in the toilet in which the girl blamed herself for sending defamatory e-mail messages about another female student. The girl, 13, was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a hospital. Schoolteachers discovered her in the toilet on the second floor at about 6:20 p.m. and called the police. Officers of Gojome Police Station were questioning teachers, staff members and students over the death. According to school officials, the father of a female student called the school at about 8 a.m. Friday, complaining that his daughter's feelings had been hurt by the girl's e-mail messages. Since the girl admitted to the school having e-mailed the messages the previous night, the school called the girl's parents and arranged a meeting with the girl and her parents. The parents came to the school at about 6 p.m. the same day, but after searching for the girl and using the school's public address system to ask her to come to the meeting, teachers found her in the toilet. She left behind the note, a sketchbook and a set of pens and pencils. The girl, said to be well behaved and top of her class, was an executive of the student council, the school officials said.
