Police arrest student over child porn, confiscate DVD stash

A student accused of possessing child pornography DVDs with intent to sell has been arrested and about 150 DVDs were seized from his home, law enforcers said.

The 18-year-old, a high school correspondence course student from Katori, Chiba Prefecture, whose name has been withheld because he is a minor, was arrested on suspicion of violating the law against child prostitution and pornography.

"I'm interested in girls about that age," police quoted the teen as saying following his arrest.

Investigators accuse the teen of possession of a DVD containing nude images of a girl aged about 12 at his home on March 21. He reportedly sold DVDs to 40 or 50 people from April last year, raking in about 100,000 yen.

Police said the teen had been purchasing child pornography DVDs off the Internet since about 2005, and allegedly sold copies through online bulletin boards and auction sites to earn spending money.
