The body of a newborn baby was found in a river in Otoshifurutone river in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture, on Wednesday afternoon, police said on Thursday.

According to police, a man who was fishing in the river spotted the body floating and called police. Police said the infant’s body was about 40 centimeters long and still had its umbilical cord attached.
