Couple held over forcing girl into prostitution
The Yomiuri Shimbun KYOTO--A man and a girl of Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of forcing an 18-year-old girl into prostitution, police said. The couple--Takashi Nakayama, a 31-year-old self-proclaimed jewelry sales firm president, and the girl, 19--repeatedly physically assaulted the younger girl and confined her at their home and threatened to tell her family about her acts, the police said. The girls have not been named because they are minors. The police suspect other women were involved in similar incidents. According to sources, the two allegedly forced the girl to have sex with two men at a Kyoto hotel in mid-February and received 40,000 yen in return. The suspects approached the girl when she was working at a restaurant in Kyoto in January and told her she could make more money by seducing men via a dating-service Web site. They then had her live in their home and engage in sex through a dating-service Web site. The couple began physically assaulting the girl and took away her mobile phone. (May. 1, 2008) |
