Schoolboy worried about grades leaps to death in front of train in Tokyo
The Mainichi Shimbun A junior high school boy leaped in front of a train and died, apparently after becoming worried about his grades at school, police said. The 14-year-old jumped from a platform at JR Ochanomizu Station into the path of a Chuo Line express train traveling between Takao and Tokyo stations at about 6 p.m. on Thursday. He died soon afterwards. Police said a message resembling a suicide note was found in the student's bag, and they suspect he committed suicide after becoming worried about his grades. Express trains on the line were halted after the accident until about 6:50 p.m., affecting about 44,000 passengers. (Mainichi Japan) May 23, 2008 |
