How adopted children can find their Japanese birth parents

There are two situations where you may want to find birth parents.  You may have been given up for adoption by Japanese parents, for whatever reason, but unconnected to a divorce, etc. and be adopted by an unrelated party.  Or, you may have been adopted in an attempt to hide you from another parent.  We do not really deal with the former, but the ideas should be the same.

If you have some information about where they lived at one time, a private investigator or lawyer may be able to help you. Or if you have a "koseki" of your birth parents, you may be able to use some of the information on the website to try to find them. See here for some hints:

If you have further ideas, please let us know and we will add them here.
