"We are staying abreast of the situation, because the matter concerns a child of Chilean nationality. We maintain permanent contact with the mother, Mrs. Yamila Castellanos.  Even before the mother arrived in Japan, we submitted a request to the father through legal channels, to let us see the child, and to allow us to determine her condition," said Consul Claudio Garrido..

According to the Chilean Consul, the case of the daughter of Yamila Castellanos has reverberated throughout her country. The Chilean television and the press have shown much interest in their drama.

"Nevertheless, this is a private matter, and will have to be decided within the jurisdiction of the legal system of Japan. Our function is of support and assistance to a compatriot ", clarified the diplomat.
