Mother arrested for strangling her 2 children

TENRI, Nara -- A housewife was arrested Monday for strangling her two children at their home here, police said.

Naomi Sasaki, 35, is accused of murder. Investigators are questioning her over her motives.

Nara Prefectural Police received a phone call from Sasaki at about 12:05 a.m. on Monday, reporting that she had murdered her two children.

Officers rushed to her home in the Senzaicho district of Tenri and found her 4-year-old son and 4-month-old daughter both collapsed. After confirming them dead, the officers arrested Sasaki.

She also called a local fire station at around 12:10 a.m., saying that she had killed her children, and asked for an ambulance, a local fire station said. (Mainichi)
