A 17-year-old high school male student was arrested on suspicion of arranging a prostitution gig of a teenage girl, police said Monday.

He started the business in September last year by posting a message on a Web site saying he was seeking a client. He then sent a 16-year-old girl to a hotel in Tokyo's Koto Ward where she had sex with a 44-year-old man, police said.

Tokyo police said the boy from Kawaguchi in Saitama Prefecture likely arranged for three girls, aged 16 and 17, to have sex for money with an estimated 120 clients in less than a year. The boy received about 1.2 million yen of the nearly 4 million yen the girls made together, police said. (IHT/Asahi: July 10, 2007)

A high school boy has been arrested for forcing three teenage girls into prostitution, police announced Monday.

The 17-year-old boy living in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, whose name is being withheld under the Juvenile Law, is accused of violating the Child Welfare Law and the Law for Punishing Acts Related to Child Prostitution.

Investigators are interrogating the boy on suspicions that he forced the girls, aged 16 to 17, to sell themselves to around 120 men between September last year and March this year, netting about 3.8 million yen.

In the specific case for which he was arrested, the suspect forced the three victims to prostitute themselves in Tokyo in September and October last year, Metropolitan Police Department investigators said.

The boy solicited customers by placing an advertisement on a Website. He gave 60 percent of his earnings to the girls while pocketing the remainder, according to investigators. (Mainichi)
