Newborn girl found dumped on apartment stairwell
The Mainichi Shimbun IRUMA, Saitama -- A newborn baby girl just days old has been found dumped below the stairwell of an apartment block here, police said. The baby has been placed in the care of a hospital in nearby Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, and her life is in no danger. The baby's umbilical cord was still attached and police believe she had been born some time in the three days leading up her to discovery on Monday. Police said they are searching for the baby's parents, who will probably face a charge of neglecting parental responsibility. (Mainichi Japan) November 27, 2007 |
