Nobutada Koike, 34, a former official with the Matsumoto Municipal Government, entered his plea during his first hearing at the Matsumoto branch of the Nagano District Court on Wednesday.

"The defendant committed the selfish crime simply to satisfy his sexual desires. His criminal responsibility is grave," a prosecutor said in demanding that Koike be jailed for three years.

Koike paid tens of thousands of yen to two high school girls to have sex with him in August this year, while knowing that they were less than 18 years old, according to the indictment. He had got acquainted with them through a mobile phone matchmaking site.
