戸籍 （こせき）
　個人の家族的身分関係を明確にするため、夫婦とその未婚の子とを単位として、氏名・生年月日・続柄などを記載した公文書。本籍地の市町村に置かれる。

戸籍謄本 （こせきとうほん）
　１つの戸籍の全部を写しとったもの。本籍地の役所で交付される証明。戸籍が電算化されている市区町村では「戸籍全部事項証明」という。

戸籍抄本 （こせきしょうほん）
　１つの戸籍の一部を写しとったもの。本籍地の役所で交付される証明。戸籍が電算化されている市区町村では「戸籍個人事項証明」という。

戸籍の附票 （こせきのふひょう）
　本籍地の市区町村において、戸籍の原本と一緒に保管している書類で、その戸籍が編製されてから（またはその戸籍に入籍してから）現在に至るまで（またはその戸籍から除籍されるまで）の在籍者の住所の変遷が記録されている。
